UCS Window Actuators, Trade Supplied Since 1996
UCS, short for Ultraflex Control Systems, is an Italian manufacturer based in Busalla, near Genoa, and part of the wider Ultraflex Group. The business grew out of window automation work carried out inside Ultraflex from the 1950s onward, before splitting off as its own company in 1988. Vent-Trade has supplied UCS actuators to UK trade customers since 1996.
What UCS Makes
UCS builds chain, rack and linear actuators for natural ventilation and for smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV). The range includes the Vega, Twin Vega, Quasar, Twin Quasar, Sirius, Nano and Stile chain actuators, the T-Rack rack drive, and the Max and Ulysses linear actuators, alongside locking devices such as E-Lock and PlusUltra. UCS also manufactures its own smoke ventilation control panels (C-SV, C-SV IB) and the call points, switches and sensors that go with them, so a full system can come from one manufacturer.
Standards and Testing
UCS holds ISO 9001 certification, and its actuators and panels are tested to EN 12101-2 and EN 12101-10. It was the first European manufacturer to gain UL certification for a window actuator, and later added GOST certification for sales into Russia. UCS states its actuators are designed to open within 60 seconds of a fire signal, withstand temperatures up to 300°C, and run for up to 10,000 operating cycles. UCS also sits on the European technical standards committees covering smoke ventilation, representing Italy.
